Hello from Truxl
Why we're starting a blog and what to expect here.
We’re starting a blog because most of what we’re working on doesn’t fit in a tweet, a release note, or a docs page.
Product analytics is in a strange place right now. The category is two decades old; the leading tools have $100M+ ARRs and tens of thousands of customers — and yet most product teams we talk to say the same things:
- It’s too expensive for the value.
- Setting it up takes weeks.
- The “AI” features are bolted on, not built in.
- Nobody on the team actually uses it after the first month.
We started Truxl because we think there’s a better answer. AI-native from day one. Self-hostable. Transparent pricing. SQL when you want it, English when you don’t. Every feature included on every plan.
What you’ll read here
We’ll write about three things, roughly:
- What we’re building — release notes, deep-dives on new features, the trade-offs we made.
- What we’re learning — what’s working for our customers, what isn’t, what we got wrong.
- The craft — analytics, instrumentation, query languages, AI-for-data — the stuff we love arguing about.
We won’t write to chase keywords or fill a content calendar. Each post will say something we actually believe.
What to expect next
The next few posts:
- A walkthrough of our retargeting feature — why audience-from-drop-off changes how growth teams operate.
- How we built the AI agent that auto-investigates metric anomalies (and why it took three rewrites).
- A frank look at the unit economics of running $35/M-event product analytics — what we cut to get there.
